Agora Gallery\u2019s name comes from the Greek word \u201c\u1f00\u03b3\u03bf\u03c1\u03ac,\u201d meaning \u201copen marketplace,\u201d a place where people gather not only to buy and sell goods, but also to meet like-minded individuals and exchange news and ideas \u2013 a place where everyone is welcome. With those ideals in mind, Agora Gallery showcases a spectacular array of talented artists from both across the globe, and from the local New York area, inviting collectors to view their work both in-person in the gallery, as well as on its online gallery.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/artbusinessnews.com\/\">Art Business News<\/a> recently had the opportunity to meet with Agora&#8217;s Director, Sabrina Gilbertson, and get her perspective on the gallery, its business, and their upcoming exhibition at <a href=\"https:\/\/redwoodartgroup.com\/red-dot-miami\/\">Red Dot Miami<\/a> during Miami Art Week.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space alter_height=&#8221;small&#8221; hide_on_desktop=&#8221;&#8221; hide_on_notebook=&#8221;&#8221; hide_on_tablet=&#8221;&#8221; hide_on_mobile=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<b>ABN:\u00a0 Introduce yourself \u2014 who are you, what is the vision of the gallery, and how do you <\/b><b>work with artists?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SG: I am the Director of Agora Gallery, which under the Agora Group, houses AGI Fine Art, an artist\u00a0agency focused on promotion for artists. I have worked in the New York City art world for nearly\u00a0two decades, and my experience includes curating exhibitions, coordinating art fairs, and\u00a0overseeing professional growth for emerging and mid-career artists from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>AGI Fine Art connects artists to exhibition opportunities and industry expertise. Its methodology\u00a0looks back to roots under the Agora Group, which combines over 40 years of experience in the\u00a0New York art market. Our shared vision is to provide tailored career guidance, enhance visibility\u00a0and help navigate the evolving art landscape throughout each stage of artistic development.<\/p>\n<p><b>ABN:. What is your background and how does it fit with the history of the Agora Group?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SG: Not unlike many of us working in the art world, including Agora\u2019s founder, the late Miki Stiles, I\u00a0am an artist. I was classically trained at Boston University and moved to New York following my\u00a0studies. While I didn\u2019t know at the time precisely where that move would lead, I was always\u00a0certain that I needed to be surrounded by art. As an artist myself, I understand the sensitivity that both\u00a0challenges and propels creativity, as well as the balance of storytelling. In my professional\u00a0career, this background has not only allowed me to connect more deeply with my artists, but has\u00a0also been integral to my approach when it comes to curation, commercial marketability and\u00a0artist promotion in the gallery.<\/p>\n<p>Community is also an important value for me, and aligns with the mission Miki envisioned for\u00a0Agora \u2014 a creative hub where artists could come together to present their work, share ideas and\u00a0shine opportunities for new talent in a highly competitive market. This foundation continues to\u00a0guide our programs today.<\/p>\n<p><b>ABN: What is the best advice you\u2019ve received?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SG: Slow down. There\u2019s something for everyone, which can\u2019t always be said for art\u00a0events of similar scale, and Red Dot is no exception. The energy is electric and the exposure\u00a0simply invaluable.<\/p>\n<p><b>ABN: When you are not working, where can we find you?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>SG: With my family! As a mother of two, most of my time and energy is absorbed by the constant\u00a0dance between work and parenting. I try to carve out space for creativity whenever I can.
